Five youths drown in reservoir in Telangana while taking reels

HYDERABAD: Five including siblings drowned in a reservoir while filming a reel. The incident happened in the reservoir of the Kondapochamma Sagar Dam in Siddipet, Telangana, last evening. The dead were identified as Dhanush (20), his brother Lohit (17) from Musheerabad, Dineshwar (17) of Bansilapet, Jatin (17) and Sahil (19), of Khairatabad. Mrigank (17), and Mohammed Ibrahim (20), who were with them, survived.

A group of seven people set out on three scooters to see the reservoir Saturday morning. The group first enjoyed the views sitting on the shore and later went down to the reservoir. After some time, the youths drowned when they went to a deeper part to film the reels. Police said that more youths were in danger while trying to save those who drowned first. The dead were reportedly unable to swim.

The youths who escaped the accident informed the locals and the police. Then, diving experts reached the spot and found the bodies of the five people at around 7 pm. Meanwhile, CCTV footage of the youths before they went to the reservoir has surfaced on social media. Some footage is also being circulated claiming that they were filmed from the reservoir. The dead Dhanush is a photographer in Musheerabad. Dineshwar and Jatin are poly diploma students. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed condolences over the death of the youths. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has directed to make security arrangements around the reservoir to prevent such incidents.
