BHOPAL: The head of a Madhya Pradesh government board has announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh to Brahmin couples who decide to have four children. The announcement was made by Pandit Vishnu Rajoria, the president of Parshuram Kalyan Board which is an autonomous body under the control of the Madhya Pradesh state government. Pandit Vishnu Rajoria holds a rank equivalent to a cabinet minister of the state.
Vishnu Rajoria's speech was during a public program held in Indore. "There is rise of 'heretics' in society. The main reason for this is the lack of attention to the family. But I have a lot of faith in the new generation. We can no longer expect much from the older generation. But the present generation has the responsibility to protect the next generation. Most of them get settled and stop after one child. This situation will lead to problems. So I want to say that you should have at least four children"
Rajoria deflected the media's question which followed. He said that what he said was his personal opinion and not a government scheme.
