KOCHI: Businessman Boby Chemmanur will not come out of jail today despite receiving bail from the High Court in the case of insulting actress Honey Rose. He informed his lawyers that he would not leave the prison as an expression of solidarity with fellow inmates who, despite completing their remand period, are unable to secure release due to technical issues. Chemmanur has vowed to stay in jail until these inmates are freed.
Bobby, who is currently in Kakkanad Jail, told his lawyers that many individuals remain in jail because they lack legal representation or cannot afford the bond amount. He has decided to stay in jail until these inmates are released. It is unclear whether Bobby Chemmanur will be released from jail tomorrow.
Boby Chemmanur's bail order was released in the evening. The court, which held that the case had merit, ordered Bobby to appear for questioning as and when required by the investigating officer. Meanwhile, activists, including members of the Men's Association, are awaiting Bobby Chemmanur's release from jail.
The court ordered Bobby to furnish a personal surety of ₹50,000. The order also states that bail will be cancelled if the same offence is repeated. The court, quoting American motivational speaker Dr. Steve Maraboli, remarked in its judgment, 'When you judge a woman by her appearance, it doesn't define her, it defines you.' "Human beings have different body types, some may be fat and some may be thin, but body shaming based on that is not right," the court observed.
