THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The forensic report has revealed that it was driver Arjun who driving the car and not violinist Balabhaskar, at the time of the accident that killed the latter and his child.
The Crime branch is now in possession of the forensic report. Based on this, a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder may be charged against the driver.
Finger prints on the car steering, the seat belts, hair strands and blood stains on seats had been examined by the forensic experts. The secret statement of witnesses who saw Arjun driving the car will also be taken.
However, the crime branch said that currently they don’t see any mystery in the accident case. Earlier, Arjun had given the statement that Balabhaskar was driving the car at the time of the accident, but this was contradicted by Balabhaskar’s wife Lekshmi, who said that she and her child were in the front left seat and Balabhaskar was resting in the back seat.
Lekshmi had also added that Balabhaskar usually didn’t take the wheel while travelling long distances. The fatal accident happened in the wee hours of September 25 as their car rammed a tree on the national highway at Pallippuram near CRPF camp in Thiruvananthapuram.
Balabhaskar's two-year-old daughter was killed on the spot and he succumbed to his multiple injuries on October 2, at a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. His wife Lakshmi and driver Arjun survived the tragedy.
