NEW DELHI: The actress who informed the Supreme Court that she is not interested in proceeding with a case based on her confidential statement to the Hema Committee has been issued a notice to appear before a magistrate court. The notice directs her to give a confidential statement on January 29th at the First-Class Judicial Magistrate Court in Thiruvananthapuram. She has been asked to appear to record her statements as per Section 183 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Samhita. The notice specifies that she must appear at 2:30 PM. The notice was issued based on a request from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the statements provided to the Hema Committee.
A copy of the notice was handed over by the actress's lawyer to the Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath on Monday. The lawyer informed the court that the actress had previously informed the SIT of her disinterest in proceeding with a case based on her statement to the Hema Committee. However, despite this, steps have been taken to record her confidential statement.
The Supreme Court had earlier indicated that it would deliver its verdict on the petitions challenging the High Court ruling allowing investigations based on statements given to the Hema Committee. However, no verdict was issued today. The state government had also informed that cases involving individuals who are not interested in proceeding with their complaints would be dropped.
