WAYANAD: A forest fire has broken out in Kambamalai, Mananthavady. A part of Kambamalai, which is full of grasslands, has burnt down. The Forest Department has reached the spot after receiving the information. Forest Department officials and the fire force team are trying to put out the fire. It is believed that the high temperature is the reason for the fire.
Two vehicles of the forest department have arrived and are trying to put out the fire. The fire broke out on Monday afternoon. The fire is currently burning in the grasslands of the forest area, but there are concerns that it will spread to the forest. Smoke is rising in many places in Kambamalai. The fire is spreading from one hill to another and is spreading downwards rapidly. There are residential neighbourhoods near the burning areas.
"The fire is spreading because of the increasing heat. The fire is spreading from one hill to another. It is a situation where nobody can stand even close. Two vehicles from the forest department have arrived. Efforts have been made to put out the fire. We are more worried as it is a residential area," said local resident Sarath.
