New Delhi: Former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has been appointed as the second Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will hold the position until the end of the Prime Minister’s tenure or until further orders. Das will serve alongside Pramod Kumar Mishra, who has been the Principal Secretary since 2019 and whose term was extended in June 2024.
Shaktikanta Das, who previously served as Secretary of Revenue and Economic Affairs in the Finance Ministry, was appointed as the RBI Governor in December 2018. He has also been a member of the 15th Finance Commission and served as India’s G20 Sherpa. Additionally, Das has represented India as an Alternate Governor in global financial institutions such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), New Development Bank (NDB), and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
NITI Aayog CEO’s term extended
The tenure of NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam has been extended until February 2026. A 1987 batch IAS officer from the Chhattisgarh cadre, Subrahmanyam was appointed as NITI Aayog CEO in February 2023 for a two-year term after his retirement from service.
