NEW DELHI: The Prayagraj Mahakumbh Mela, which began on the Paush Purnima day of January 13, will conclude tomorrow with the holy bath on the day of Mahashivratri. Lakhs of devotees are flocking to Prayagraj to seek the blessings of Mahashivratri.
So far, it is estimated that more than 62 crore pilgrims have arrived. Security has been tightened in the region. Medical units are ready 24 hours a day. Yesterday, a cleaning project was conducted in which more than 15,000 sanitation workers participated. About 10 kilometres were swept and cleaned. The Uttar Pradesh government has stated that this is a world record in cleaning projects. Arrangements are being made at New Delhi and Prayagraj railway stations to control the crowd and congestion.
Yesterday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, and actress Katrina Kaif took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam.
The UP police have registered a case against 140 social media accounts for sharing misleading posts related to the Kumbh Mela. A case has also been registered against 17 people who shared indecent images of women taking baths. One person has been arrested.
