THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister K Rajan said that the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the township to be built for the Wayanad landslide victims will take place on March 27. The minister made this announcement while responding to the adjournment motion raised by the opposition in the legislative assembly.

The Minister said that the government is involved in a proud disaster management process. "We will work together for the benefit of Wayanad, without any political differences. The construction of the township will proceed swiftly," he said.

He also revealed that a micro-plan has been developed for the rehabilitation of 1,112 families, and the government will cover the costs of urgent and ongoing medical treatments for the victims.

Rajen further clarified that the rehabilitation list has been compiled following established guidelines. Additionally, Rs 120 crore will be allocated for road reconstruction. The adjournment motion was introduced by MLA T. Siddique.

Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan strongly criticized the central government, accusing them of gross neglect. He claimed that the central government's approach to providing loans was wrong. He also questioned the state's efforts in providing livelihoods for the disaster-affected individuals. He pointed out that the government stopped providing the Rs 300 daily allowance for victims after three months.
