THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Agents who deceive students by promising medical seats are becoming active again. The seats are offered in deemed-to-be universities outside the state. Two lakh rupees are being taken in one go. Two lakh rupees must be deposited at the time of registration in deemed universities. This amount will be returned when the procedures are completed, whether admission is granted or not. This amount is what the agents are extorting.
Complaints have been received at the police in the Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts. It has also been reported that a Cherthala-based institution has extorted money from many people. This institution also conducts recruitment abroad. Such people are taking advantage of the fact that many people are not ready to complain due to legal complications and embarrassment.
Agents will undertake the mission of providing options on the pretext of ensuring admission. Two lakh rupees will be deposited from their account. Later, this will be collected from the parents. The money will be returned to the agents' account. Finally, they will take the entire two lakhs in the name of service charge. If you ask how much the service charge is, they will dodge it tactfully.
Agents will come looking for parents of children who are behind in NEET rank. They will say that they can secure a management seat in the state. That will not happen. The next temptation will be to ensure an NRI seat. If the option is not given, they say that they can file a case in court and get permission. A huge amount will be demanded for the case. That too will not happen. Next comes the offer of seats in deemed universities in other states.
