NOIDA: An engineer committed suicide after alleging that he could not bear the mental torture of his wife. The incident took place in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
Mohit Yadav (33) committed suicide. Mohit had shared a video on social media in which he alleged that his wife and in-laws were harassing him. "The main reason behind my decision is the lack of legal protection for men. I did not get justice when I was alive. If I do not get justice after death, then my ashes should be thrown in the drain," Mohit says in the video. Mohit committed suicide at a hotel near Noida railway station. The police arrived after the hotel staff informed them. The body was handed over to the relatives after the postmortem. Last year, a techie named Atul Subhash had committed suicide in Bengaluru alleging wife abuse, which had drawn national attention.
Threat to file a case
Mohit says in the video that his wife was forced to have an abortion by her in-laws and he lost the baby. “They threatened to file a case of domestic violence against me and my parents if I did not register my property in my wife’s name. I did not ask for a dowry but they threatened to file false cases.
Her father Manoj Kumar filed a false complaint. Her brother threatened to kill me. After that, my wife started fighting with me every day,” says Mohit.
Mohit is a native of Auraiya. He met Priya while working as an engineer in a cement company in Noida. After a seven-year romance, the two got married. In the meantime, Priya got a job as a primary school teacher in Samastipur, Bihar. Mohit's relatives allege that the relationship between the two broke down after this. They also allege that Priya and her family members behaved in a way that mentally debilitated Mohit.
