SRINAGAR: "If my son is alive, he should surrender immediately. Even if he is killed in an encounter, it is okay." The words of Shehzada, the mother of Adil Hussain Thokar, who was part of the group that carried out the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, reveal her loyalty to the country and the humiliation she feels for her son.
The family has not heard from Adil Hussain for eight years. He is a native of Bijbehara in Kashmir. Asif, a native of Tral, is another local terrorist who participated in the attack. The security forces had demolished both their houses with a blast on Thursday night. The people in the houses were evacuated before the blast.
Adil's mother said that the family did not support the terror attack in any way. "I, my two other children and their children lived in the house that was demolished by the authorities. Adil worked as a teacher in an educational institution near our house. He is a post-graduate."
Adil entered Pakistan through the Wagah-Attari border in 2018. Intelligence sources said that he returned to Jammu and Kashmir last year after receiving training in terror activities. It is reported that he also worked as a guide for Pakistani terrorists.
