IDUKKI: Minister Roshy Augustine stated that rapper Vedan has the support of both the state government and the public. The minister's comments come ahead of Vedan's upcoming performance at a government-sponsored event in Idukki, amidst ongoing controversy surrounding the artist.
"No one is perfect. What sets Vedan apart is his willingness to acknowledge his mistakes. The event in Idukki would give a new face to the rapper," the minister said.
Vedan's performance is set to take place at 7 PM at the Vazhathope school ground. Due to space constraints, only a maximum of 8000 will be admitted for the event. Police have announced that if the crowd exceeds this number, tighter controls will be enforced. Roads leading to the venue may be blocked, and if the situation becomes unmanageable, the event may be cancelled.
The performance is part of the 'Ente Keralam' exhibition and marketing fair held in connection with the state government's fourth-anniversary celebrations. Vedan was initially scheduled to perform on the opening day, April 29. However, the event was cancelled after he was arrested in connection with a ganja case on April 28. Following public support from both the CPI and CPI(M) parties, it was decided to provide Vedan with a platform to perform in Idukki. In preparation for the event, 200 police officers have been deployed to ensure security.
