THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala is on high alert following the frightening situation in Indian states bordering Pakistan. The alert is due to the presence of defence and research institutions including VSSC, Vizhinjam Port and Kochi.
Pakistan's spy agency has serious links in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, which are close to Kerala on the country's southern border. A top police officer told 'Kerala Kaumudi' that forces are monitoring the land, air and sea.
The police and the Intelligence Bureau have intensified surveillance on social media. Those spreading misinformation and communal propaganda about the conflict with Pakistan will be taken into custody.
Central agencies are conducting cyber patrols under the name 'Operation Chakravyuha'. The internal security department is also on high alert considering the history of Al Qaeda, Indian Mujahideen, and Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists’ arrests made from Kerala.
Looming concerns:
The Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard forces in Kerala are all on alert.
More than 100 Malayalees, including around 50 from Kannur, have joined ISIS.
Muhammad Muhsin, a native of Thrikaripur, is behind the attack on the Sikh Gurudwara in Kabul.
21 Malayalees went to Afghanistan to join ISIS. Half of them were killed.

The capital is on high alert due to the presence of strategic defence and research institutions. Thiruvananthapuram Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Vikram Sarabhai Space Center in Thumba, Liquid Propulsion System Center in Valiyamala, Vattiyoorkavu Integral Systems Unit, Doordarshan Center in Kudappanakunnu, Thiruvananthapuram, Twenty-six locations, including the Secretariat and the Assembly building, are of strategic importance. High security has been beefed up at the Vizhinjam and Kochi ports.
