‘Attacking junior lawyer is serious, police to investigate people who helped lawyer'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Law Minister P Rajeev said the incident of attacking a junior lawyer of Vanchiyoor court is quite serious. Senior lawyer Bailin Das brutally assaulting his junior identified as Shyamili. The minister was speaking to the media after meeting Shyamili, who was roughed up by her senior. The minister clarified that this is something that has never been heard of before in Kerala.


'It is a very serious incident. The police have charged a case and started proceedings. The bar council will be asked to take action as per law. It should not have happened in our state. The police have started proceedings to arrest the culprit. The police should also investigate those who knowingly helped the senior lawyer. The action is in the case of attacking the lawyer and so the lawyers should stand with the victim. It was a wrong action to stop the police,' the minister clarified.


The junior lawyer was beaten up by a senior lawyer the other day. The brutality was for asking the reason for terminating her. Her face was disfigured after being beaten with his hand and a mop stick. Her face was swollen and bruised. She sustained injuries on her right eye and chin. The victim is J V Shyamili (26), a lawyer of Vanchiyoor District Court in Thiruvananthapuram. She is the mother of a six-month-old baby.
