ALAPPUZHA: A dolphin was found dead on the Arattupuzha coast near Muthukulam. The body was found 200 meters away from the wreckage of the container ship 'MSC ELSA 3' that sank in the Arabian Sea. The dolphin was found dead near Azhikkodan Nagar.

The Ocean Society of India is cleaning the beaches. S Sheela, head of the Zoology Department of TKMM College, Nangiarkulangara, who visited the coast as part of this cleaning, found the dolphin dead. The container that had washed up on the Arattupuzha coast was filled with cotton cloth. It is suspected that the dolphin died after eating this cotton cloth.

The dolphin was found dead around 12 noon on Wednesday. The case will be clarified only after the postmortem report comes. The team led by Deputy Range Forest Officer (Grade) J.D. Solomon John of Ranni Karikulam Forest Station took the necessary steps. The body was buried after the postmortem was conducted.
