THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Culture Affairs Minister Saji Cherian came forward responding to actress Parvathy Thiruvoth, who criticized the government for the decision to close the cases in the Hema Committee report. The actress criticized the government's decision to close the cases as the survivors are not willing to proceed further. Her response was through an Instagram story after the news came to close the case. She also tagged Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the story. The minister replied to this now.
'Some are spreading misunderstandings on the issue. The chief minister formed the Hema Committee with special interest. A conclave will be called next month for film policy. Some people are not unaware of this and are posting some comments. A press meet will be convened to explain the steps taken,' Saji Cherian clarified.
‘Now we can focus on the actual reason this committee was formed? Putting policies in place to help make regulations in the film industry? What is the CMO doing? What is happening with that? No rush eh, it’s only been five and half years since the report was submitted,’ said the actress.
The police decided to close the case as those the survivors are not interested in proceeding further. The Special Investigation Team had registered 35 cases. 21 were dropped earlier. The remaining 14 will be closed and the report will be submitted to the courts this month itself.
