TEHRAN: Sahar Imani, anchor of Iran’s IRIB channel, gained global attention in a single day after Israeli missiles struck the channel’s headquarters during a live news broadcast. Although visibly shaken at first and momentarily fleeing the set, Sahar returned within minutes to resume delivering the news — and even issued a direct challenge to Israel, daring them to attack again.
She has since become a global symbol of Iranian women's courage. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, praised her, calling her “the voice of Iran.” Sahar is already a well-known figure in Iranian media. Trained in food engineering, she entered the media industry in 2010 and rose to prominence as the face of IRIB, Iran’s state broadcasting organization. Sahar is married and has a young son.
