Television actors Kris Venugopal and Divya Sreedhar's marriage has remained a topic of widespread discussion on social media, with videos featuring the couple eliciting mixed reactions from the public. While both actors have earlier responded to the criticism they've received, Divya has now opened up once more—this time in a heartfelt interview with a YouTube channel—addressing the negative comments and personal insults directed at her online.
Reflecting on her life before her second marriage, Divya revealed that she had gone through considerable financial hardship. "I couldn’t manage alone. People I had borrowed money from treated me poorly," she said. Addressing widespread criticism that her marriage was financially motivated, Divya acknowledged such remarks but firmly denied any material intentions. "Yes, many said I married him for his money. I’ve seen those comments too. But I’ve never made any demands on him. We both work to make a living. Though he owns property, we don’t depend on that."
Divya also pointed out that financial stability often influences social support. "Had I been financially well-off earlier, people would have supported me. No one stood by me before the marriage, but now many who once ignored me are acting as if they care."
The actress also expressed her distress over body-shaming comments and rumours surrounding her relationship. "There were false reports about our divorce. Many people deliberately target us on social media. I frequently receive hurtful comments about my appearance. They take a toll on my mental health. Sometimes, I even lose the will to eat," she admitted, adding emotionally, "If we had met earlier in life, things might have been even better for us."
