CHENNAI: The police have reportedly received strong evidence against Tamil actor Srikanth, who was arrested in a cocaine use case. The police have received documentary evidence of Srikanth buying cocaine from a drug dealer. Along with this, the police are also in possession of digital evidence of money being transferred to buy cocaine, NDTV reports. A senior officer said that after examining chat details, financial transaction records and phone data, it was clear that a drug deal had taken place.
The police are also investigating whether Srikanth has any links with drug dealing gangs from outside Tamil Nadu. After taking Srikanth into custody, the Nungambakkam police questioned him for several hours. Blood tests have confirmed drug use. The police have not yet released the forensic report. It is indicated that the actor bought cocaine forty times. Prasad, an accused in the assault case that took place in a bar in Nungambakkam on the 17th, had given a statement against Srikanth. Prasad, a former AIADMK IT wing office-bearer, is one of the producers of the film Theenkirai starring Srikanth.
Shocking information emerged from his custody and questioning. The dispute in the bar was related to the sale of narcotics. Prasad is related to a man named Pradeep, who was arrested earlier in a narcotics case. The police found with evidence that Pradeep had given cocaine to Prasad and that it eventually ended up in the possession of actor Srikanth. Following this, Srikanth was called for questioning yesterday morning. The police also said that the medical examination revealed that the actor had used narcotics.
It is reported that Srikanth has purchased cocaine worth more than Rs 4 lakh on 40 occasions. The drug was used in various pubs and private parties in Chennai. There are also indications that more stars will be called for questioning. Srikanth's lawyer has not yet responded to the incident. Srikanth, who was remanded by the Chennai court, will remain in judicial custody till July.
