KOCHI: The court has ordered the police custody of MN Narayana Das, the accused in the fake drug case against beauty parlour owner Sheela Sunny. The bench of Justice VG Arun ordered the police custody of the accused for three days. Narayana Das will be questioned along with Livia, another accused in the case.
The Thrissur Sessions Court had earlier ordered that Narayana Das, who was arrested in Bengaluru, should not be remanded in police custody. The court's decision was made on an appeal filed by the state government against this. Livia, who is the sister of Sheela Sunny's daughter-in-law, was arrested in Mumbai when she returned from Dubai. Livia's statement is that Sheela Sunny had been saying things that were offensive to her and that she had put LSD stamps on Sheela Sunny's vehicle to take revenge for this. The police had earlier found that it was Narayana Das who informed the authorities, based on Livia's directions, that Sheela Sunny had narcotics in her possession.
Narayana Das and Livia met in Bengaluru. Livia was the one who had Narayana Das buy LSD stamps from an African national. As the police intensified their investigation, a lookout notice was issued against Livia, who had entered Dubai.
Sheela Sunny was arrested on February 27, 2023, for possession of narcotics. The Excise arrested her based on confidential information. However, although the examination revealed that the stamps were not LSD, Sheela Sunny had to spend 72 days in jail for a crime she did not commit.
