Woman swims ashore with help of locals; carpenter Harish's body found during the search for Rajiv who jumped with her

KANNUR: While searching for the body of the man who jumped into the river with a woman, another body was found. The body of Harish (42), a native of Kappakadavu, Azhikode, was found in the Valapattanam river in Kannur on Tuesday morning. His body has been shifted to the district hospital for postmortem.

The woman, a native of Bekal, Kasaragod, was rescued from the river on Monday morning. After that, the search for Rajiv, who went missing with her, began. The woman had jumped into the river from the Valapattanam bridge on the Kannur National Highway with her friend Rajiv. The woman, who knew how to swim, reached the shore with the help of locals. The woman said that she and her friend jumped into the river together.

Although the police and fire force conducted a search, only the body of Harish could be found. Harish jumped into the river three days ago near Sulkha Shipyard, taking off his shoes and clothes. Harish, a carpenter, was separated from his wife.
