RIYADH: Football fans in India are excited after Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr and Indian club FC Goa were drawn in the same group in the AFC Super League. Fans are hoping that Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will come to India to play for Al Nassr. However, the reality is that the possibility of that happening is slim. His club cannot pressure the footballer to play in India.
Al Nassr and Ronaldo have a contract until 2027. What has disappointed fans in India is some of the clauses in the recent contract renewal. If the player wants to play away matches outside Saudi Arabia for Al Nassr, it will be at his own discretion. The club or the coach cannot force Cristiano to do so.
Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr and Indian club FC Goa were drawn in the same group in the AFC Champions League after today's draw. FC Goa qualified for the group stage of the AFC Champions League Two 2025-26 football tournament after a 2-1 win over Omani champions Al Seeb Club.
Along with FC Goa, Mohun Bagan will also play in the AFC Champions League. 32 teams will compete in the AFC Champions League in eight groups. The tournament begins on September 16. The draw for the tournament was held today in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur. The full fixture of the tournament will be released after the draw is completed.
