THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary MV Govindan has responded to the allegations against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil. MV Govindan clarified that the entire Kerala has come to demand Rahul's resignation and the allegations are coming like a torrential rain.

'Rahul Mamkootathil will have to resign either today or tomorrow. There is no other option but to resign. Shafi Parambil and VD Satheesan are also involved in this. It is not allegations, but evidence that has come out. The government will take appropriate action based on the evidence that has come out. Satheesan and Shafi know everything. There has never been a story of harassment like this in history. More complaints may come out,' Govindan said.

Meanwhile, Rahul Mamkootathil, who announced that he would hold a press conference today, withdrew from it at the last minute. Rahul reportedly said that he did not want to elaborate further on the issue. It is learnt that the press conference was cancelled after senior leaders intervened.

The announcement of the press conference came shortly after the audio recording of Rahul Mamkootathil forcing a woman to have an abortion, making obscene remarks and threatening her was released. There were also talks that the press conference was to announce his resignation from the post of MLA. However, the news of the press conference being cancelled was announced shortly after the media personnel reached his house.
