Student sexually harassed inside KSRTC bus; conductor arrested

OTTAPALAM: A KSRTC bus conductor was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a student passenger. The incident happened on Friday night in a KSRTC bus travelling from Coimbatore to Guruvayur. When the bus reached East Ottapalam, conductor Pradeep (39), a native of Lakkidi Perur, allegedly misbehaved with the girl. The bus was later stopped at Pattambi, where the police arrested him. He was produced in court and remanded for 14 days.

The student, who was travelling from Palakkad to Guruvayur, was seated next to the conductor’s seat. According to the complaint, the conductor touched her inappropriately. The girl immediately called the police helpline and informed her relatives.

The police control room then alerted Ottapalam police, but by then, the bus had already passed the area. The information was forwarded to Pattambi police, who intercepted the bus and arrested the conductor. KSRTC officials said that the conductor has been suspended from duty.
