One lakh more ration cards to change colour; six lakh people given new cards so far

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Food and Civil Supplies Minister GR Anil has said that one lakh more deserving BPL cards will be issued. He also said that BPL cards could be issued to six lakh deserving families only after they were withdrawn from those who were holding BPL cards undeservedly.

The minister was speaking after inaugurating the Kaviottumukal-Poykakuzhi road in Manakode ward of Nedumangad municipality. The road was constructed using Rs. 33 lakh from the local fund of the municipality. The Minister also inaugurated the Punnavelikonam Chira in Ward 26 of Nedumangad Municipality, which was renovated under the Amruth project, and the drinking water project built using municipal funds.

The function, presided over by Nedumangad Municipality Chairperson CS Sreeja, was attended by Nedumangad Municipal Secretary R Kumar, Nedumangad Municipality Vice Chairman S Raveendran, Welfare Affairs Standing Committee Chairman B Satheesan, Public Works Standing Committee Chairman P Harikesan Nair, Education Standing Committee Chairperson P Vasanthakumari, Development Affairs Standing Committee Chairperson S Sindhu, Health Standing Committee Chairperson S Ajitha and others.
