
NEW DELHI: The CCTV footage of the car suspected of being used in the Delhi blast has surfaced. The footage shows a white Hyundai i20 with number HR 26CE7674 parked near the Red Fort for more than three hours. The vehicle, which was parked at 3.19 pm, left from the place at 6.30 pm.
The car was driven by a man wearing a blue and black T-shirt. The police got the information that the car was driven by Dr Umar Mohammad. The blast in Delhi was after 2,900 kg of explosives were recovered from Faridabad in Haryana. Umar was the close aide of Dr Adeeel Ahmad Rather and Dr Mujammil Shakil, the doctors in the white-collar terror module were arrested by the police of Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. Umar escaped from Faridabad after their arrests and he panicked and triggered the blast. Police hint that Umar was planning the attack with two other accomplices and planted a detonator in the car.
It is reported that Umar did not get out of the car when it was parked. Police suspect that he may have been waiting for someone or for instructions. Umar worked at Al Falah Medical College Hospital.
A car exploded with a loud bang near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station near the Red Fort at 6.52 pm yesterday. Reports say that nine people were killed. About 20 people were injured. It is reported that five of the dead have been identified. The busiest Chandni Chowk shopping area is located here. It is suspected that the blast was aimed at this market.
