KOCHI: Actress Lakshmipriya has said that she is personally happy with the court verdict acquitting actor Dileep in the actress assault case. She said she never believed, either in the past or now, that Dileep could have committed such a crime. Lakshmipriya added that she has always openly stated this and clarified that her stance does not mean she is against the survivor.
“I never believed he did anything wrong, not then and not now. Both of them are our colleagues and friends. But I always had the belief that he would not do something like this. I am happy about that. That doesn’t mean I am not with the survivor. We cannot judge everything ourselves, right? The court has made a decision. We must respect that. I accept the court’s verdict. What we believed is what came true, and I am happy about it. If the verdict had been the opposite, we would have stood with that as well,” Lakshmipriya said.
Following the verdict, several people from the film industry came out in support of Dileep. Director and close friend Nadhirshah wrote on social media, “Thank you, God. Satyameva Jayate.”
Akhil Marar wrote, “Truth will win… let truth prevail. Nothing my conscience believed to be true has ever been proven wrong. Then and now, I stand with the truth.” Director K P Vyasan also shared his happiness through a social media post.
