PALAKKAD: BJP workers stopped UDF candidate Ramesh Pisharody from campaigning in areas considered strongholds of the saffron party. During the candidate's campaign tour, a group led by BJP councillor Sindhu Rajan at Vadakkanthara stopped the UDF candidate, saying that they would not allow entry to any supporters of Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil.

This led to a minor tension. Finally, Ramesh Pisharody and his group decided to leave without meeting people in this area. These areas are part of the 51st ward of Palakkad Municipality, considered strongholds of BJP. A similar incident had happened in 2016 when Shafi Parambil contested in the constituency for the assembly elections.
