College teaching staff member collapses and dies during class; death came as Subramanian was set to retire in March

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: College teaching staff collapsed and died while taking a class. P. Subramanian (55), an associate professor in the commerce department of Kanjiramkulam Govt. KNM Arts and Science College, died at the age of 55. The incident took place around 11.30 am. He collapsed in front of his students while taking a class as usual. Students and colleagues rushed him to a private hospital near the college. He was shifted to a private hospital in Neyyattinkara, but his life could not be saved.

P Subramaniam joined Kanjiramkulam College as a teaching staff last year. Before that, he had served in places like Kalpetta, Nedumangad, Attingal and Wayanad. He passed away when he was about to retire in March.

The funeral will be held at Thycaud Santhi Kavadam tomorrow evening after the postmortem. The body will be taken to Kanjiramkulam Govt. KNM Arts and Science College tomorrow afternoon for public homage. He is married to Dr. N. K. Rajasujitham. Their children are students S. Akshay and S. Angel Chakku.
