THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A preliminary investigation will be conducted on the complaint filed with the DGP against the parody song ' Pottiye, Kettiye Swarnam Chembayi Mattiye’, which became a hit during the recent local body elections. The complaint has been handed over to the DGP. It will be examined whether there are any references that hurt faith in the parody song. However, reports say there is confusion in registering a case.

A case will be filed only after a legal advice. The complaint of the general secretary of the Thiruvabharanam Pathasamrakshana Samithi stated that a beautiful devotional song has been used in a distorted way. The complaint also stated that the devotees were insulted and that the song should be withdrawn. Meantime, the CPM also stepped forward alleging that the song hurts religious sentiments.

This is a parody song written by G P Kunjabdulla, who went to Qatar from Nadapuram in Kozhikode 46 years ago. This parody song, which became the cornerstone of UDF's victory in Kerala, was not written for any political party. It was sent to the Youth Congress and later the Youth League, but no one considered it. Haneefa Mudikodan from Kozhikode composed the music and made it a song. It became a hit when Danish Koottilangadi sang it. Haneefa is a friend of Kunjabdulla. The UDF and NDA had adopted this parody song statewide during the elections. The song was written to the tune of the famous devotional song 'Pallikettu Sabarimalakku Kallummullum Kaliik Metthe'.
