Pinarayi to lead LDF in coming polls, ‘No need to determine horoscope of child to be aborted right now’

PALAKKAD: Senior CPM leader A K Balan said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will contest polls again. While talking to a private channel, Balan confirmed that Pinarayi will be in the fray. He said the two-term system in the party is not ironclad and that changes will be made at necessary junctures. However, Balan clarified that he will not contest this time either.

‘Pinarayi contesting polls will benefit the LDF. The person who leads the election campaign will be the next chief minister. The Congress will be torn to pieces with the next election. There is no need to determine the horoscope of the child who is going to be aborted right now? When the results come, the Congress will be completely aborted. The UDF's desire for more than 100 seats will become a dream. The second Pinarayi government is a government that has shown miracles. So, the LDF will come to power again with a good majority,' said Balan.

Balan also opposed the allegation that Vellappally Natesan had insulted the minority. Vellappally is criticizing the League, what is wrong with it. The dispute between the CPI and Vellappally is their business. The gold theft will not affect the LDF in the elections. Why don't they start singing 'Pottiyekande, Sonia kandu'?" asked Balan.

Reports earlier said Pinarayi may not contest the assembly elections this time citing health issues. The CPM does not have the practice of announcing the chief ministerial candidate in advance. The LDF will decide the candidates based on the probability of success.
