'Not just Amrutha, Abhirami too fears it, this is what happened in relationship with Gopi Sundar'; director reveals

Sisters Amrutha Suresh and Abhirami Suresh are well-known among Malayalis. Active on social media, the duo runs a music band called Amrutham Gamaya. While they receive strong support online, they are also often targeted by criticism. Now, film director Alleppey Ashraf has spoken about certain aspects of Amrutha and Abhirami’s lives through his YouTube channel.

Ashraf said that Amrutha Suresh and Abhirami Suresh face severe criticism on social media, much of it involving sexual abuse. There were also criticisms about the way they perform on stage. Abhirami had recently responded, saying they are facing harsh criticism without doing anything wrong, and that she speaks to society in a very logical and sensible manner.

"Amrutha entered married life at a young age with many dreams and expectations. She has spoken publicly on several occasions about the problems she faced in her marriage. In an interview, Amrutha said she does not want any money from her former husband, actor Bala, as her daughter does not wish to receive it. This shows that she is not someone driven by greed for money," Ashraf said.

"Recently, Amrutha shared an unpleasant experience through her YouTube channel. She said a relative had messaged her on WhatsApp asking for money, following which she transferred Rs 45,000. The amount was meant for paying an EMI. Later, she received another message from the same number asking for Rs 30,000 more. When Amrutha called the number to explain that she did not have the money, she learned that the relative’s WhatsApp account had been hacked. She then filed a police complaint. Amrutha said she shared the incident as a lesson to ensure others do not fall victim to similar frauds," he said.

"Abhirami has said that she once dreamt of wearing a saree and getting married, but after seeing what her sister went through, she felt discouraged. However, she clarified that she has not decided against marriage, but admitted that she fears it. Amrutha had never hidden her relationship with music composer Gopi Sundar. The two got married, but later realised they could not move forward together and separated amicably. Now, Amrutha has another reason to be happy, as she has lent her voice to a key character in The Ba***ds of Bollywood, a web series directed by Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan," Ashraf added.
