THRISSUR: Following suit of poet K Satchidanandan, writer Sarah Joseph also expressed a desire to see a change in government in Kerala. Sarah Joseph said that it will be a welcome change for the LDF to sit in opposition for one term. She said the hopes of LDF upholding democracy after getting a second chance at power were dashed.

Sarah Joseph:

“All ruling classes need support from communal forces, religious forces. By taking them into their hands, these ruling classes are destroying the concept of a democratic and secular India. A change of government is definitely needed in the state. The Left has a tradition of joining hands with any devil to stay in power. That is how they ended up with an alliance with the League.

The present CPM goal is to unite religions and communal forces to maintain power. Power is everything for them, not democracy. There is a need to introspect on Pinarayi Vijayan’s contributions to the state. It is always good to remember that it is LDF that came to power, not Pinarayi Vijayan.

All across the world, the Communist Party went into ruins only because they strayed from their ethos to a totalitarian nature. One person alone is leading the party to totalitarianism. This is like the party digging its own grave”
