VS' former PA A Suresh is UDF candidate in Malampuzha? Will Congress surprise again

PALAKKAD: The Congress is planning to field former chief minister V S Achuthanandan's personal assistant A Suresh as the candidate in Palakkad’s Malampuzha. Suresh confirmed that Congress’ state leaders have approached him. Congress believes that if Suresh is fielded, they will be able to make gains in Malampuzha, a Left stronghold. Suresh was VS's personal assistant for a long time. The UDF is planning to field him as an independent.

Meantime, Suresh responded that he has not informed Congress leaders about his decision to contest. Congress leaders had approached him. It has been 11 years since he was expelled from the party. However, is still a Left supporter. He is with those protesting the erosion of the values of the Left in Kerala. Had filed four appeals against his expulsion from the party. He has not yet received a reply. He is still not sure why he was expelled from the party. A Suresh also clarified that he does not intend to join another party.

Malampuzha is the constituency where both E K Nayanar and V S Achuthanandan have contested. V S won from Malampuzha four times from 2001 to 2016. A Prabhakaran was the candidate last time and won by over 25,000 votes.
