KOCHI: Postmortem report with shocking information that the six-year-old girl found dead with her father in Ponekkara, Ernakulam, was sexually abused for about a year. She was also abused just before her death. The Elamakkara police have registered a POCSO case after the postmortem report revealed the horror.
The shocking information that the child had injuries, including to her private parts, was first reported by Kerala Kaumudi on January 23. The police have intensified their investigation to find out who molested the child.
The 33-year-old man from Poochakkal, Alappuzha, was found hanging in his rented house on the morning of January 15, while his daughter was found dead on the bed. The initial conclusion was that he had killed his daughter and committed suicide after his wife got upset and left after a fight. The child was strangled to death. After the postmortem revealed that the child had been sexually assaulted, the forensic surgeon called top police officials to the hospital and informed them.
The police registered a POCSO case after receiving the final postmortem report the other day. The police suspected that the wife's quarrel was due to an argument over suspicions that the child's father had taken money or gold from the couple's friends by threatening to reveal their private information. The information was gathered from the couple. The man used to fight with his wife frequently over financial difficulties. He was not going for any job. The mother said that she was unaware of the child being abused.
Wife waited unaware of death
The man acted harshly after sending a message to his wife that he and his daughter were leaving. At around 11 pm, his wife let go of her quarrel and returned from work, but the door of the house was locked. Thinking that the father and daughter must have gone out, she waited outside until dawn. The wife called a relative in the morning when the husband did not answer the phone. The father and daughter were found dead when he broke down the door and entered. There are also indications that the man was addicted to drugs.
