KAYAMKULAM: The Ramayana wax museum in Ayodhya has been completed thanks to the efforts of a Kayamkulam resident. Famous wax sculptor Sunil Kandalloor has created wax sculptures of the Ramayana on the banks of the Sarayu, five hundred meters away from the Ram temple. Sunil told Kerala Kaumudi that he will decide on the inauguration after holding discussions with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in two days.
22 story scenes have been prepared, starting with the Ramayana author Valmiki Maharishi, the childhood and adolescence of Rama and Lakshmana, Sita Swayamvaram, exile in the forest, entry of Ravana, abduction of Sita, Jatayu war, Hanuman's arrival in Ashoka Vatika, and the burning of Lanka. The sculptures of 40 characters have been completed. The models are Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia, who played the roles of Sri Rama and Sita in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana serial.
Sunil Wax Museum was set up on two and a half acres given by the UP government as part of the Ayodhya Development Project. The agreement requires giving twelve percent of the income to the government. The building is built in the Kerala architectural style on 9,850 square feet.
The one in Ayodhya is Sunil's fourth wax museum. The other museums are near the Padmanabhaswamy temple, in Lonavala in Maharashtra, and in Sindhudurg near Goa. Sunil is the son of the late Sukumaran and Saraswathi of Kandalur. Wife: Pooja. Children: Teji Sunil, Cherry Sunil. Siblings: Adv. Subhash, Sujith.
Beginning with K. Karunakaran
The first wax figure was a statue of Lord Krishna. Then a full-length statue of former Chief Minister K. Karunakaran was made. Karunakaran went to Sunil's house in Kandalur to see the statue, which was dressed in his clothes and glasses.
Then hundreds of lifelike sculptures of world leaders, historical figures, political leaders, literary, cultural and film stars were made. Celebrity wax museums were also started.
