KOZHIKODE: The loan of Muslim League leader and former minister Dr M K Muneer has been paid off. The Muslim League leadership paid the loan of Rs 40 lakh. The money was paid to Calicut Town Cooperative Bank from the League’s account. Panakkad Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal and P K Kunhalikutty spoke to Muneer. The League paid money after that.
After the loan of Rs 58 lakh was defaulted, the bank issued a seizure notice for Muneer's house, Crescent House, on Nadakkavu Cross Road. The notice said that if the loan is not repaid by March 31, it will be seized. One of the two loans in the name of M K Muneer had been repaid. The second loan is under threat of seizure.
Muneer had told the media yesterday that the seizure of his house was a personal matter. He had taken the loan in 2011 as part of the reconstruction of the house. However, he could not repay it as expected. He sold the house in Jafar Khan Colony and paid some amount. The bank had given him maximum time. Since there was nothing left to sell, he had to look for another way. He had not harmed anyone. There will be some way. He said that he will not ask help in personal matters. The leadership had called me. He had also said that it would not be right if the party stood by and took the responsibility of each individual.
