PATNA: Eight people were killed in a stampede that broke out at a temple in Bihar's Nalanda. All the dead were women. More than a dozen people were injured. The accident took place at the Sheetala Mata temple in Maghra area of Bihar Sharif. Since it was the last day of the Chaitra month, thousands of people had come to the temple to offer prayers today. Visuals of many women lying unconscious on the ground have emerged.

Some devotees alleged that the temple is crowded every Tuesday and that the mismanagement of the authorities was the cause of the accident. Some pointed that the government representatives did not even reach the spot.
