TN Govt announces one crore financial aid to ASI’s family

KALIYIKKAVILA: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami announced a financial assistance of Rs one crore to the family of ASI Wilson who was shot dead at Kaliyikkavila in Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. The government has assured job for a person of the family. He was shot dead in the checkpost when he has only 15 months more to retire. Wilson was the son of Yesudas of Marthandam. He leaves behind his wife Angel Mary and daughters Reneeja (married) and mentally retarded Vineetha. It was Wilson who used to drop his younger daughter in school and picks her up in the evening.

Wilson entered Tamil Nadu police in sports quota and has 30 years of service. He was promoted to ASI two years back and was posted to Kaliyikkavila police station. In November last he met with a bike accident and sustained injuries on his head. He had undergone treatment at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram for 15 days. He re-entered service on January 1st. Congress activists had besieged national highway in Marthandam seeking financial aid for his family.

Meantime, two were taken into custody on suspicion of having links with the accused in the murder of the ASI. These two from Tamil Nadu have been staying here for years. Tamil Nadu Q branch are questioning them. More details of them have not been divulged.

Abdul Shameem (25), son of Abu Haneef of Thakkala and Thoufeek (27) of Muhammed Yousuf are the two accused in the killing ASI Wilson.
