Ashiq Abu draws flak over conduct of concert to collect funds for flood relief

KOCHI: Film director Ashiq Abu has drawn flak for the conduct of ‘Karuna’ music programme organised by Kochi Music Foundation to collect funds for flood relief. He was criticised after the letter of Bijibal, a musician and one of the organisers of the programme, was sent to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan requesting to permit Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium for free has been publicised. Meantime, collector S Suhas has sent a letter to Bijibal asserting that he was not an organiser of the music foundation and that legal action will be taken if his name is misused.

Ashiq Abu had yesterday questioned Hibi Eden MP for criticizing the event by referring to it as deceit. The director had yesterday posted the image of a cheque of Rs 6,22,000 handed over to the chief minister’s relief fund. He mentioned that the concert was not conducted to collect funds for the relief fund.
