KOCHI: FEFKA, an organisation of technicians who work in the film industry, has condemned the cyber attacks against the movie Empuraan, as well as Prithviraj and Mohanlal. They called the attacks unfortunate and unacceptable.

FEFKA emphasised that criticism of the film’s form and content is welcome, but it should not include insults, threats, or blatant disrespect. They stated that meaningful debates should allow all sides to express their views, not silence them. FEFKA also expressed solidarity with all filmmakers involved in Empuraan.

Supporting Prithviraj: Aashiq Abu

Director Aashiq Abu voiced his full support for Prithviraj amidst the Empuraan controversy. He expressed sadness over threats to the biggest Malayalam movie and the crew’s decision to back down. Abu criticised attempts to isolate Prithviraj, calling him a target of the Sangh Parivar.

An indicator to measure India: Benyamin

Writer Benyamin remarked that the film has become a measure of how far fascism has spread in India. He praised Murali Gopi and Prithviraj for standing strong despite criticism.

Chief Minister should intervene: Harish Peradi

Actor Harish Peradi urged the Chief Minister to step in and resolve the ongoing conflict surrounding Empuraan. He suggested an all-party meeting to stop actions that harm Kerala’s secular image.

Killed the film: Thrissur Metropolitan

Orthodox Church Thrissur Metropolitan Yuhanon Mar Meletius compared the situation to historical tragedies, saying, “Gandhiji was assassinated, thousands were killed in Gujarat, the Babri Masjid was demolished, and now a film has been killed. The murders continue.”

Cinema should be seen as cinema: Asif Ali

Actor Asif Ali shared his view that cinema should be enjoyed as cinema. He emphasised the importance of choosing what influences us and standing for justice. Asif Ali warned that reactions made without considering the future could lead to serious problems. He criticised those who hide behind anonymity to attack others, highlighting the pain caused by social media abuse.
