MUMBAI: The number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra is nearing 45,000 as the state has reported around 3000 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. According to reports, 2940 persons tested positive for coronavirus on Friday thereby taking the state's tally to 44,582. This is the highest number of fresh cases reported in the state and the sixth consecutive day where more than 2000 persons tested positive within the span of 24 hours.
With 63 deaths in the last 24 hours, the state's Covid-19 death toll has reached 1517. According to reports, Dharavi alone reported 53 fresh cases in the last 24 hours and the total number of positive cases in the region increased to 1478 with 57 deaths.
Mumbai alone has reported 1751 new cases and 27 deaths in the last 24 hours. As of now, the total number of positive cases in the capital city is 27,068 with 909 deaths.
While the COVID-19 tally in Thane has crossed 5000, Pune has reported close to 5000 positive cases so far. Meanwhile, 12,583 persons have tested negative in the state. As many as 30,474 persons are currently undergoing treatment in various hospitals across Maharashtra.
