THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The move of the Customs investigation team to find out the VIPs involved in the gold smuggling with the help of the CCTV visuals obtained from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has received a setback as there is no police camera at the required spot.
The existing cameras are installed only from places 10 km away from the vantage point.

The Customs have asked for visuals of six specific days over a period of three months and the police have agreed to give whatever visuals that are available with them.

The Customs’ presumption is that Sandeep Nair is the main link in the gold smuggling case. He smuggled gold seven times within a period of last six months. Sarith is only the third link. It was Sandeep’s idea to smuggle gold through a channel which the Customs are not likely to check.

Meanwhile, the Customs has summoned Hariraj for questioning. He has reached the Customs office in Kochi.

Hariraj is Air Cargo Association India leader and he had allegedly put pressure on Customs to release the diplomatic baggage.
