THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The main accused in the gold smuggling case Swapna Suresh and Sandeep Nair have been taken to jails in Thiruvananthapuram. Sandeep Nair was shifted to Poojappura jail while Swapna was sent to Attakkulangara women's Jail. The jail has been changed because a case under the COFEPOSA act (The Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities act, 1974) is pending against them.

They were earlier lodged in Kakkanad and Viyyur jails respectively in connection with the gold smuggling case. The prison was changed after the customs invoked COFEPOSA act against them.

Meanwhile, Vigilance team probing the Life Mission case, visited the Vadakancherry flat complex on Tuesday and completed the collection of documents. The report will be submitted within a week. Life Mission CEO UV Jose, UnitTech owner Santosh Eapen, Life Mission engineers and Vadakkancherry Municipal Corporation officials were questioned in connection with the case, as well.
