SABARIMALA: The Kerala Police has issued a directive that women below 50 years will not be allowed for darshan in Sabarimala. The police has mentioned this in the directive for online facility virtual queue booking for darshan in Sabarimala. This was seen in the website ‘Sabarimala Online Services’ which is under the control of the police.
Women below 50 years will not be permitted has been mentioned in the third line of COVID-19 guidelines. The directive is that female/others gender with age less than 50 years and above 65 years will not be allowed for darshan.
Bindu Ammini and Kanaka Durga visited Sabarimala on January 2 in 2019. They were given police protection for the darshan. The same police have issued the directive after a year that women below the age of 50 will not be allowed for the darshan.
The Supreme Court had on November 14, 2019 left Sabarimala women entry to a larger bench.
The constitutional bench led by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi announced the order. The order had not mentioned a stay in the verdict permitting entry of women.
