THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP leader Kummanam Rajasekharan on Friday said that the ongoing investigations taking place in connection with illegal tree felling in the state are not adequate. He also alleged that the state government was conducting a procession of violations for the sake of timber smuggling.

"It is illegal for the state government to bring in a law in the name of forests without informing the Centre. How can the state government give the power to cut down trees in the protected forests?" Kummanam said. He also said that the government, which facilitated timber smuggling, was now trying to evade the controversy by putting all the blame on the officials.
