BENGALURU: Olympian Anju Bobby George said P R Sreejesh, the Malayalee player, who played a crucial role in helping the Indian hockey team secure bronze at the Olympics, has not received the recognition he deserved. She said this while talking to a media.
Anju Bobby George said that when she got the World Championship medal, the same attitude was shown towards her and the state government had then said the treasury was empty. This approach of the government should change, she said.
Sports committees including the BCCI have announced rewards for the hockey team. Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, chairman and managing director of UAE based VPS Health Care, had announced a reward of Rs one crore for Sreejesh. The state government has not yet announced any reward.
