THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state president K Surendran has lashed out at the state government over the Covid management in the state. Surendran said that the Pinarayi government made Kerala number one in Covid cases when the entire country was fighting and defeating Covid. He also pointed out that Kerala accounted for 68 percent of Covid cases recorded in the country on Wednesday.
Surendran blamed unscientific Covid management and non-compliance with national norms for pushing Kerala into a catastrophe. "While 31,445 Covid cases were reported in Kerala, only 5,031 cases were reported in Maharashtra which is in the second position. In UP, which is eight times the size of Kerala, there are only 19 patients. The Chief Minister should be prepared to take strong action without putting the lives of Malayalis at risk," he said.
"The inefficiency in storing the vaccine has hit the health minister’s district hard. The state got embarrassed with 20,000 people testing positive for Covid after getting vaccinated. The state government, which spent crores on PR campaigns, has distributed the vaccines obtained from the Centre to its close ones," he added.
