Heavy rain expected in various districts of the state for next three days; yellow alert in 11 districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state is likely to receive heavy rains for the next three days as a result of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal. A yellow alert has been declared in eleven districts of the state. The IMD said that isolated showers are expected in all districts except Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Alappuzha.

The low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal is likely to turn into extreme low pressure in the next 24 hours. Therefore, the state is likely to receive heavy rains on Wednesday. The IMD has warned that north Kerala is likely to receive more rain than the southern part of the state.

Yellow alert declared in:

  • 12-09-2021: Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod
  • 13-09-2021: Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod
  • 14-09-2021: Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod.
